NEA Grants for FY09 include five for New Hampshire

nea logoFunds from the National Endowment for the Arts will help nurture artistic excellence in New Hampshire, via five recently announced grants for fiscal year 2009:

Dartmouth College
Hanover, N.H.

CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence   FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Presenting
To support the Visiting Performing Artist Series at Hopkins Center. Residencies will feature presentations of new and existing works by theater artists, dance companies, choreographers, and musicians from around the world.

MacDowell Colony, Inc.
Peterborough, N.H.
$30,000
CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence   FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Presenting
To support first-time artist residencies. Artists will receive a working studio, stipends, and room and board for as long as two months.

Monadnock Music
Peterborough, N.H.
$10,000
CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence   FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Music
To support free community concerts in rural southwestern New Hampshire towns in the Monadnock region. Summer concerts by musicians in residence will take place in churches and meeting houses during the two-month festival.

CATEGORY: Access to Artistic Excellence   FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Opera
To support the Young Artist Program for singers. The professional development project will provide opportunities for singers to perform in supporting operatic roles for mainstage productions and other primary roles in family matinee productions and community outreach activities.

To support the Frost Place Festival of Poetry featuring author Chase Twichell. Festival events include lectures, public workshops, and readings.
